  Zurich Customer Letter

On the 22nd of October Zurich South Africa wrote to our customers to inform them that a back up data tape was lost during a routine transfer to a data storage facility. We take our responsibility towards our customers extremely seriously and have an unwavering commitment to fair, transparent and responsible business conduct. That is why we sent the letter, and why we apologised directly for this unfortunate incident.

We have seen no evidence to believe that anyone’s data has been improperly accessed. In most instances we hold limited personal information on our customers/claimants. As a fully intermediated company, independent financial advisors (or brokers) perform some of the administration on our policyholders’ behalf. This is why some people who receive a letter will not instantly recognise the Zurich brand as being their insurer.

The intention behind the letter is not to mislead our customer base nor is it a marketing ploy to elicit new business.  It was simply to inform our customers of what occurred and what Zurich is doing to address it.

If you have queries or concerns, please contact our response team or you may send an e-mail to enquiries@zurich.co.za
