Zurich South Africa operates in both the domestic and commercial markets, transacting all classes of short-term insurance. The company markets its products almost exclusively through brokers and agents. It has a network of offices throughout South Africa, and subsidiary insurance companies both locally and in Botswana.
Specialist products include marine and engineering insurance. In addition, the company has several innovative tailored products like a personal legal expenses insurance product, the Zurich Legal Plan, through a joint venture company, Zurich Legal Expenses Underwriting Managers SA.

Our BEE status
We take our commitments extremely seriously and, in 2011, achieved a Level 3 BBBEE rating in terms of the Department of Trade and Industry Codes of Good Practice for the 2012 (applicable from March 2012 to March 2013). In light of the publication of the Financial Sector Charter in November 2012, the Company’s BEE status for the 2012 financial year has been accredited in terms of the Financial Sector Codes and we have maintained our Level 3 rating.
Our propositions and services
We are committed to leveraging our global network of experts to ensure we develop products and propositions in line with our customers’ changing needs. In 2011, we refreshed our Personal and Commercial Lines policies, and launched our new Farmers’ product at the end of the year. We launched our Financial Lines offering in 2012 and are engaged in new opportunities for 2013.
