MOTOR INSURANCE Change to car hire benefit - effective 1 May 2006
Car hire following the theft or hijack of the insured vehicle is at present covered in terms of our policies and certain clients have elected to include car hire following a write-off of the insured vehicle in an accident for a premium of R30 per month per vehicle.
As from 1 May 2006 we will be extending our car hire benefit to include partial damage on all comprehensively insured vehicles. The premium is R45 per month per vehicle for all the car hire components.
The extension of cover applies to all domestic policies as well as private motor cars insured under commercial policies.
From the same date, this benefit will also be available on comprehensively covered light delivery vehicles insured on a commercial policy at a premium of R70 per month per vehicle.
The maximum periods of hire allowed are 30 days following theft, hijack and total loss (accidental damage resulting in a write-off) and 14 days for partial accident damage.
The Internet Monthly Product presently covers car hire following theft, hijack and total loss (where selected). Should your client wish to include accident cover, the cost will increase by R15 per month per vehicle.
