REVIEW OF BASIC MOTOR EXCESS STRUCTURE
Domestic, Commercial and Group Scheme Business

Changing market conditions, an increase in the incidence of motor claims, and rising repair costs, have necessitated the need to review our basic excess structure.

With effect from 1 January 2007 the basic excess structure for motor claims will change as follows:

  • The excess on all private motor vehicles (including LDVs insured as private motor
vehicles) changes from 5% of claim, minimum R1 000 to 5% of claim, minimum R2 000
  • The excess on commercial vehicles changes from 5% of claim, minimum R1 500 to 5% of claim, minimum R2 500

The amendments will be communicated to all brokers and policyholders in accordance with Policyholder Protection Rules.

We trust that we can rely on your understanding of the business environment within which we find ourselves operating and, consequently, your support of these changes. If you have any questions regarding your personal lines policies (IMP), please contact our Customer Service Centre on 0860 00 90 90 or, for other business, your local SA Eagle office.
